If masks work, why the need for social distancing? If social distancing works, why the need for masks? If both of those work, why the need for lockdowns? If the lockdowns work, why have we needed more than one of them when the great majority of people have been following the rules?

Doing the same thing time and time again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. If the government can’t think logically, then we the people must. We must stop treating each other as though we are all carriers of the virus when infection rates are such a low proportion of the population. We need to fully reopen the economy for the working age population to preserve jobs and ensure the NHS is funded through the tax system to be there for those who need it. We must make alternative provisions available for those opting to self-isolate.

What this issue has demonstrated more than anything is that the Conservative government’s coronavirus policies are simply wrong; disproportionate to the scale of the issue and devastating in its effect on mental health, socialisation, businesses, jobs, family unity. They deserve nothing greater than our utmost contempt.
